Baroque Era songs for viola
Some of the most beloved music comes from the Baroque era. Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel are some of the well known names from this style period, which went from about 1600 to 1750. The important pieces from this era that feature the viola are Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 and the Concerto in G Major by Telemann. The viola is an important instrument for Baroque ensemble music, despite not having much solo music written for it. Many violin pieces have been transcribed for viola. Since the viola was invented shortly before the Baroque Era, most music for viola comes from this time period or later.
