This minuet is from the second Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach, (J. S. Bach's second wife.) It is a collection of pieces by Bach and other composers. This piece is mostly known as Minuet No. 2 because that is how it is titled in the Suzuki violin book. Originally for keyboard, it is presented here as a duet for cello and piano. The opening arpeggio figure is a good string crossing exercise for beginner cellists. Practice slowly at first, being sure to make good contact with each string before moving to the next.
