This minuet in G Major was originally found in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (J. S. Bach's second wife) dated 1725. The notebook contained music by Bach and many different composers from the late 17th and early 18th century. Much of the music in the notebook, including this minuet, was anonymous. In the 1970's this minuet was identified as a composition by German composer Christian Petzold. In 1965, American songwriters Sandy Linzer and Denny Rendell wrote A Lover's Concerto, based on the melody from the minuet. It was recorded by The Toys, and reached No. 2 in the US Billboard Top 100.  Learn to play Minuet No. 3 with this arrangement for double bass and piano.
