How Great Thou Art is one of the most popular hymns in the English language. It is based on a poem by Swedish writer Carl Gustav Boberg, who wrote of the beauty nature, man's folly, and God's grace. The first melody that the text was put to was a Swedish traditional song, but over the years other influences changed the melody to what we know today, including influences from a Russian folk tune.
