This well known Scottish folk song was first written by Dora Jordan in 1801. It has been arranged several times including a piano trio arrangement by Joseph Haydn, and a trombone solo arrangement by Arthur Pryor, which has also been arranged for orchestra and military band. Pryor's arrangement is a theme with variations that requires virtuoso skill. American composer Leroy Anderson also arranged the tune for orchestra.
