Romantic Era songs for bass
Do you like your bass music highly dramatic and unpredictable . . . with tender, beautiful melodies one moment, and violent outbursts in the next? Then the Romantic Era is for you! Running from around 1825 to 1910, the Romantic Era ushered in a new, more personally expressive style of music. Famous Romantic Era composers are Johannes Brahms, Hector Berlioz, and Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The music for double bass in this era became more technically challenging to reflect the wider expressive range. The most important bassist and composer from this era is Giovanni Bottesini. His pieces are performed by solo bassists frequently and include the Concerto No. 1 in F# Minor and Elegy. There are also many simple and beautiful themes from the Romantic Era that can be played by even beginner bassists.
